Early Years

Early Years - Willow Academy
At Willow Academy, our Early Years programme—from Nursery to Grade II—lays the foundation for a lifetime of meaningful learning.
Rooted in the belief that learning begins with joy, our Early Years offers a rich and balanced first school experience. Our approach blends structured skill-building with hands-on exploration and time in nature, nurturing each child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development. It’s a thoughtful beginning—where curiosity is encouraged and every moment matters.

Language Immersion

We don’t teach English & Urdu. We teach in English & Urdu.

At Willow Academy, learning a second language is more than an academic pursuit; it is a daily practice that transforms the way students see and think about the world.

Integrated Units of Study
of Literacy, Numeracy & Science

Bringing Literacy, Numeracy, and Science Together

At Willow, we take a forward-thinking approach to how children make sense of the world. Rather than separating subjects into silos, our Integrated Units of Study weave together literacy, numeracy, and science into meaningful, real-world themes.
Students explore big ideas—like Climate Change, Justice & Equity, or Inventions & Machines—through hands-on investigations, stories, data, and discussion. This interdisciplinary approach helps them see how ideas connect, while building essential skills in thinking, communication, and problem-solving.

Some examples of integrated units include:

  • Justice & Equity
  • Inventions & Machines
  • The Solar System
  • Stewards of the Earth

Green Responsibility

Ecological stewardship

In Willow Academy’s curriculum, Ecological Stewardship empowers elementary students to actively care for their natural environment. Through projects like planting native species and habitat restoration, students become environmental stewards, fostering a sense of responsibility and community engagement. It’s a transformative journey instilling lifelong values of environmental conservation.

Nature Journals

Outdoor Chronicles

Nature Journals in the elementary curriculum capture students’ outdoor exploration. These journals, filled with observations and sketches, enhance literacy skills and deepen the connection with nature. Chronicles of changing seasons and intricate details, Nature Journals nurture a love for the environment, develop observational skills, and lay the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of the natural world.

Learning Through Play

The key to child development

Tactile play develops fine and gross motor skills, physical play stimulates growth, and make-believe play accelerates social-emotional learning. Most importantly for us, all kinds of play foster a love of learning that young children will carry with them as they move upwards through school.

Healthy Habits

Fostering self-help skills, self-regulation and independence

Our early childhood program begins with the facilitation of healthy separation from caregivers and progresses through the development of all-important self-help skills. With constant, individualized support from their teachers, our youngest students learn how to take care of themselves and each other—whether pouring water from a pitcher, hanging up their coat or cleaning up after playtime—and in so doing, build competency and self-confidence.
